Meet Susan the owner here at The Riding Store! Susan began riding when she was nine years old. She first began riding western and even competed in barrels at different shows. She currently owns a chestnut, off the track thoroughbred, named Baby Carlos! Susan and her gelding are now training in dressage and this team takes part in dressage performances from time to time at her barn. Since Susan has been riding from a young age she is very knowledgeable about horses and the horse world, which as we all know is always changing. She always looks forward to meeting new customers and seeing old familiar faces. Her other hobbies include running, skiing, and yoga.
Meet Nina, our manager here at The Riding Store. Nina is an animal loving, knowledgeable horsewoman, who has been riding since the age of three! She began competitively riding and eventually bought her first horse, Chip, at age eleven. He is a bay off the track thoroughbred who has taught Nina much of what she knows today. In 2014 she rescued her second horse, Benawyl, who is also a bay thoroughbred. If you can tell she is crazy about those bays! Nina has multiple degrees including one in equine massage as well as an equine studies certification. Her other hobbies include spending time with her three black cats, massaging horses, and singing. She has been a part of our team since 2014 and we are so thankful to have her!
Meet Makayla! She has been riding and working closely with horses since the age of fourteen. During this time she learned as much as she could about horse care. Having been a part of the horse world for quite some time, Makayla has acquired a keen eye for fitting helmets, boots, and show attire. She has been a part of our team since 2015! She has worked with many different horses during her riding career and as of recently owns her very own paint gelding, Apache. She is currently studying to become a high school English teacher. Her other hobbies include taking too many pictures of her adorable dogs, penny boarding, and eating guacamole. Stop in today to say hello!
Meet Sabrina! Since she began riding at the age of ten, Sabrina has excelled as a horse woman. She began formal lessons a thirteen and eventually became a groom for a local barn where she deepened her knowledge of horse care. She bought her very own horse, Scout, a chestnut thoroughbred in March of 2016. The two are a fantastic pair who have shown on the PTS circuit, as well as participated in local Tower Hill schooling shows. This summer Sabrina is excited to show on the NIHJA circuit! She without a doubt can answer any questions you may have about horse care and showing! Her other hobbies include volunteering at a therapeutic riding facility, taking naps, and watching The Office.
Meet Anne! Anne began riding at the age of 8 years old. She took lessons for quite some time before purchasing her very own mare, Satin. This adorable bay mare was five years old when Anne first bought her and the pair have now been working together for fifteen years! She has had much experience with lessons, and even some experience showing in the past. She knows an immense amount about horses and the care that goes into them. Anne’s knowledge of the horse world allows her to be a great help to anyone with questions about riding. Her other hobbies include being an amazing mom to two great kids, as well as gardening, and cooking.
Meet Mary! She began riding when she was quite young. She currently takes lessons at three different barns local to the Chicago land area. Mary takes part in multiple disciplines such as hunter jumpers, dressage, and even some driving! She has been an employee here at The Riding Store for quite some time and is in charge of ordering our gift items! Mary is very knowledgeable about horse care as well as apparel for riders. Mary’s other hobbies include rescuing animals, dog walking, and volunteering. Stop in to say hi today!
